What is a Death Cafe?
Death Cafes are a social gatherings held over tea and pastries. These meetings are group-lead. It is a Judgement Free space. No apologizing for how you feel. Discuss the theory of death or voice your recent experiences with grief. This is an emotionally open and vulnerable space. The goal of these spaces is to bring people together in a casual environment to increase the awareness of death and to destigmatize it. (Death Cafes should not be used as a replacement for counseling, but in addition to.)
Death Cafes usually run 2-3 hours depending on size and how much people feel comfortable sharing and discussing. There is a ground ritual performed at both the beginning and ending of each session followed by emotional support provided by me.
